They are a more heavy duty board than regular 3mm or 4mm thick ones, and are designed to be able to carry heavier cakes, such as fruit cakes, and multi tiered wedding cakes. These cake boards are made from compressed wood, and covered with a food safe silver foil, which lets cakes be placed upon this, without it touching the wood.
